Software overview
This software has been developed and programmed by FANR based on the shielding calculation methodology that established by the National Council on Radiation Protection (NCRP Report No. 147 and 145). These reports on Structural Shielding Design for Medical X-Ray Imaging Facilities and Radiation Protection in Dentistry respectively”. In addition, in line with the recommendations set out by the International Atomic Energy Agency Safety Series (IAEA Reports No. 39) on Applying Radiation Safety Standards in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Procedures Using X Rays. The software performs calculations for all X-ray imaging modalities including CT and dental equipments by using related variants such as occupancy type, distance, type of shielding material, number of patient’s undertaken radiological procedures and resulted unshielded air Kerma, and desirable design target goal for classified areas. Moreover, this version able to use advantage of the existing shielding when retrofitting of existing structural shielding become inevitable and unavoidable.
