The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) hosted the 2025 edition of its annual “Meet Your Regulator" forum in Abu Dhabi, bringing together over 400 licensees and stakeholders from various sectors including healthcare, industry, and others to engage in open dialogue, regulatory updates, and knowledge sharing.
FANR highlighted its recent regulatory developments to enhance efficiency and service delivery, in line with the UAE's Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme's goals to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and excellence.
Participants received in-depth briefings on the National Dose Registry, recent revisions to FANR-REG-24 “Basic Safety Standards for Facilities and Activities involving Ionizing Radiation other than in Nuclear Facilities", operational experience and learning, and the role of measurement in radiological risk estimation. A panel discussion addressed inspection findings and regulatory observations, offering a platform for direct exchange between regulators and stakeholders.
Furthermore, FANR presented the recently launched Nuclear and Radiation Excellence Award to honour exceptional individuals and organizations advancing the fields of nuclear and radiation across the country.
“At FANR, we place great importance on engaging with our licensees through open and regular channels of communication. Events such as this provide an opportunity to actively involve them in the regulatory decision-making process while also gathering valuable feedback that enables us to continuously improve our services and regulatory approach," said Aayda Al Shehhi, Director of Radiation Safety at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR).
This year's forum reflects FANR's ongoing commitment to proactive engagement, regulatory excellence, and the continuous enhancement of safety, security, and innovation across the nuclear and radiation sectors in the UAE.
